mbg— Creating brand value and impact with an updated narrative & visual perspective

Project Information
Mindbodygreen (mbg) is an independent media brand dedicated to wellness. As mbg’s Art Director, I transformed brand creative through strategy and visual design, directly impacting the mbg enterprise which included mindbodygreen.com content/branded content and mbg video classes. The strategy and art direction was led by the media kit transformation, growing to branded content, social media, mbg platforms (mindbodygreen.com and mbg classes), editorial, and event production.

Media Kit

The first step in the transformation of mbg was overhauling the media kit visual and strategic approach in order to appeal to potential advertisers. I changed the entire look and feel of the deck to match the persona of our readers as well as re-interpreting our brand, "Brooklyn, Bohemian, Sanctuary," to be a laid-back, modern, cool girl with alternative taste and style. I advised on/collaborated with the marketing team on the strategy behind the deck and its content flow to best tell the story of mbg, it's readership, and goals. As a result, the sales/marketing team doubled their sales in a year due to the overwhelming positive response of the media kit.

Branded Content

Part of mbg’s revenue strategy was partnerships and branded content on the mindbodygreen.com platform. I collaborated with the marketing team on creative ideas, content, and strategy to pair brands with our content or influencer network. These ideas and collaborations led to us working with many new brands like: Whole Foods, Target, Dior, Kit and Ace, Pepsi, Nike, Siggis, Kashi and Smarty Pants.

Kit and Ace

Kit and Ace partnered with mbg to create Pare Down | Power Up, a 3-part shoppable  influencer content series with Jordan Younger, the founders of Sakara Life, and Tara Milhem. We created a custom shoppable email featuring influencer’s favorite Kit and Ace pieces, hired and sent shot lists to freelance photographers, created a custom lock-up, showed custom video display units, and custom mobile intersitials on mindbodygreen.com.

Social Media

I shifted the the art direction to match the new media kit, and as a result, we gained over 70k followers on Instagram in the first 5 months. My role as a managing art director for social media was to assist the social media manager in creative decisions with branded content, as well as the look and feel of our social media platforms.
